Third Missions will be hosting our Local Missions weekend this year through serving our mission partner CARITAS.
We are delighted to serve our long-time mission partner CARITAS for their Bridge Weekend from November 5-6 and offer many different volunteer opportunities to our community. CARITAS has been serving the Richmond area for more than 30 years, growing and expanding to address unmet needs by providing the tools for self-sufficiency and dignity to men and women in crisis.
WHAT IS BRIDGE WEEKEND?
Bridge Weekend is supporting Caritas, from our community to them, through the following ways:
Packing lunches, and providing a dinner and “Welcome Home” kits to CARITAS clients.
Learning about CARITAS! A guest speaker will be with us to Saturday morning, November 6 to share with us about this ministry and their new center that opened in December 2020. Then, we’ll even get a chance to tour their new facilities on Monday and Wednesday!

Friday, Nov. 5: Lunch Packing and Making Dinner!
11:00 a.m. - Pack lunches! We’ll provide the food, we just need help packing them up and delivering them over to CARITAS. Can you help us pack up the lunches? SIGN UP HERE
Bring goods for dinner! We’re making dinner for 60 people! Parish groups, families, and individuals sign-up to make a dinner tray of lasagna, spaghetti with meat sauce or a chicken and rice casserole. We'll also need salad, rolls, and dessert (cakes, cookies or brownies). SIGN UP HERE TO BRING A DISH.
Do you have a van or an SUV? Can you bring the dinners to CARITAS? SIGN UP HERE.
Saturday, Nov. 6, 9:30 am in Fellowship Hall
9:30 a.m. - Come and hear about CARITAS and its new facility. We will also hear more about Bridge Week.
We will also be collecting Welcome Home Kits. Assemble these kits in advance, such as a bucket, gloves, sponge, toilet brush and kitchen spray/bathroom spray. SIGN UP TO BRING A ‘WELCOME HOME’ KIT.
Take a Tour of CARITAS’ New Facilities: We’re offering tours of the new CARITAS facility for anyone who’d like to check it out!
