Join us in the Fellowship Hall on Friday evening June 19th for the next installment of the Makers Series, as we explore how collaboration is a vital part of creativity via the written, visual, and musical arts.
What is the Makers Series?
Each edition of the Makers Series brings together three “makers”—a writer, a visual artist, and a musician—to discuss their history and practice as artists and believers, touching on a unifying theme. In a coffee-house setting with refreshments available throughout, each guest presents for 20 minutes, followed by a moderated conversation between the three and the audience, seeking to find commonalities between each maker’s experiences and to draw out insights about faith, culture, and creativity.
Collaborate
Art is often considered a solitary calling, and artists as talented individuals working and expressing their particular vision of the good, the true and the beautiful. But many of our most cherished and familiar art forms are intensely social and cooperative: they are not and cannot come to be without several, if not many, creators working together. The Makers Series returns on Friday evening, June 19th, as we explore the theme of collaboration in architecture, theater & music. Our guests will be Third’s own Andrew Moore, Principal and Director of the Urban Architecture Studio at Glavé & Holmes; RESOUND, the close-harmony Gospel trio of Joseph Clarke, Mariah Hargrove, and Jessica Fox; and London-based playwright, actor and director Richard Everett. We’ll hear about (and see) the very different ways collaboration plays out in their art, and ask them to help us think about the Christians’ role as co-creators in the world, equipped and guided by the Spirit to reveal signs of the new creation today.

Richard Everett, Playwright
Actor and Playwright Richard Everett
A native of England, Richard Everett was a professional actor in London for some years before becoming a playwright and screenwriter. He has since written 8 stage plays, produced, translated and published, including the much acclaimed “Entertaining Angels” which has had over 100 productions worldwide. He has 200 animation scripts to his credit including a BAFTA nomination, plus the feature film "Two Men Went To War" which was shortlisted for the Hollywood Film Festival. ‘Sound Bites’ is his first published collection of sketches and meditations for use in church settings and is enjoying great success both in the UK and the USA. Richard also runs drama workshops for adults with ‘additional needs’ and seminars on the ‘The Writer’s Journey’. RESOUND, Gospel Trio
Joseph Clarke, Mariah Hargrove, and Jessica Fox
This RVA trio is known for their unique a cappella arrangements of everything from classical to pop and gospel music, and their mission is to encourage and provoke people to share their God-given gifts and talents with others.
While their close complimentary arrangements suggest they have been singing together for years, or are family members, the trio met in 2010 while singing for a local play in Richmond. Sharing dinners as well as music together, they were sitting around the table and improvised an "Awesome" medley which they then posted to Facebook. The video went viral, as did an impromptu rendition of "Total Praise" for gospel recording artist Byron Cage. That and other videos caught the attention of artist Donnie McClurkin, who invited them to open on his recent Festival of Praise tour with Fred Hammond. They have also been afforded the opportunity to sing background for many musical greats.
The word of mouth/social media attention continued with the buzz stemming from a tweet of their Christmas Medley video from pop sensation Ariana Grande, which received over 2M views on Facebook and was eventually aired on Good Morning America’s Pop News segment. Following the airing, Resound was contacted to appear LIVE on the show to share more of their beautifully arranged a cappella harmonies.
Clarke, Hargrove and Fox are now working tirelessly to release their debut single and EP and are focusing on establishing a career path as the group RESOUND, and believe their gifts and all of the opportunities they have been given thus far can only be accredited to God. Without Him they know they would not be able to do what they do. They are motivated by Isaiah 42:12 which states “Make God’s glory RESOUND; echo His praises from coast to coast.”
Andrew Moore, Architect
Andrew Moore, Architect
Originally from the Appalachian foothills of northern Georgia, Andrew Moore has lived in the Richmond area since grade school. Following a “gap year” of traveling in Europe and working for a custom furniture builder (Harrison Higgins), Moore attended and graduated from Virginia Tech with a professional degree in architecture.
Moore’s career started at the firm of Glavé Newman Anderson (now Glavé & Holmes Architecture) under the tutelage of Pete Anderson and Jim Glavé. After working at GNA for a year, moved to a variety of Richmond architecture and design firms, finally returning to Glave & Holmes in 2004. Since returning to G&HA, Moore has advanced to the role of Principal and Studio Director, heading the Urban Architecture Studio, a studio that is devoted to continuing Jim Glavé’s legacy of place-making and enhancing the vitality of the city through design. Moore is licensed to practice architecture in Virginia, Delaware and California and is an Accredited Professional in the US Green Building Council’s LEED system.
In addition to his work at G&HA, Moore is a founding member of the Board of Directors of Storefront for Community Design, a non-profit organization that serves the City of Richmond by connecting the design community with people in need. Moore is also President of Partnership for Smarter Growth, a non-profit organization that promotes regional cooperation and integrated land-use and transportation planning in the Richmond Region. Moore is active in professional associations, such as the American Institute of Architecture, the Urban Land Institute, the Virginia Downtown Development Association, and The Congress of the New Urbanism, as well as lecturing at VCU, University of Richmond and other local institutions on issues of urban design and architecture.
